Overview

A Vacancy at Northumbria Healthcare - NHCT Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. A rare and exciting opportunity is available for an exceptional Nurse and Educator to join the Northumbria Health & Care Academy team as Programme Lead for the brand new Registered Nursing Degree Apprenticeship Programme. The post-holder will be an experienced educator with a strong clinical background, either working towards or holder of a post-graduate certificate in education. The post-holder will hold overall responsibility for the delivery of the programme at the Academy, supported by the University of Sunderland RNDA Programme Lead. The post-holder will deliver a contextualised version of the existing Registered Nursing Degree Apprenticeship currently delivered via the University. They will work alongside University and Academy colleagues to develop teaching resources which align with both the Module Descriptors in place at the University and the standards set by the Nursing and Midwifery Council for nursing education. They will develop high-quality learning and teaching related to evidence-based nursing and research theory.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee the programme from a compliance perspective, ensuring that the national requirements for apprenticeships are met.
  • Contribute towards the future Research Excellence Framework and Teaching Excellence Framework.
  • Line manage the RNDA module lead staff based at the Academy, with oversight over teaching and learning for up to 50 RNDA students at one time.
  • liaise regularly with the wider student support network, including people services, occupational health, apprenticeship services, practice education and clinical educators, practice assessors and supervisors Trustwide.
  • Oversee the recruitment of students onto the programme, monitor progression, student experience and outcomes, and actively engage in quality improvement and evaluation of the apprenticeship.
  • Be a registered nurse who will work clinically on a regular basis.
  • Lead learning & teaching of academic and clinical programmes delivered at the Northumbria Health and Care Academy.
  • Enhance the reputation of the Northumbria Health and Care Academy and University of Sunderland as a centre of excellence by engaging with teaching, reach-out and research programmes in nursing and health-related topics.
  • Role model compassionate and inclusive leadership to shape a collective leadership culture within the trust, including coaching to promote ownership of learning and quality improvement, and facilitating team working across organisational boundaries.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Registered nurse with current registration.
  • Experience as an educator with a strong clinical background.
  • Post-graduate certificate in education or working towards one (desirable).
  • Ability to develop teaching resources aligned with University Module Descriptors and NMC standards.
  • Experience in quality assurance, apprenticeship delivery, and student progression oversight is desirable.
