Job description
Overview

The Royal Free Hospital Intensive Care Department is looking for a motivated Senior Clinical Fellow. This post would be ideal for a candidate wishing to gain experience in Intensive Care Medicine and the recognition and management of the critically ill patient. You will be well supported by our dedicated team of ICU Consultants. The RFH ICU treats over 2800 patients a year. There is a large consultant body and team of resident doctors, with 24-hour cover provided in blocks to ensure continuity of care.

The post is best suited for those committed to medical education and developing ICU experience within a supportive, inclusive environment. Post-Graduate education is a key priority for the department with a dedicated teaching programme delivering ICU teaching weekly on a broad range of ICU topics, ICU Radiology teaching and ICU Journal Club.

Responsibilities
  • Provide senior clinical support in the intensive care unit as part of a large team of consultants, with 24-hour cover in blocks.
  • Contribute to a welcoming, supportive, and educational environment and participate in the department’s teaching programme, ICU Radiology teaching and ICU Journal Club.
  • Support medical education initiatives and supervision of resident doctors rotating through the ICU.
Qualifications and eligibility
  • At least two years of accredited core medical or anaesthetic training to the level of CT2 or equivalent.
  • Strong candidates will have passed MRCP or Primary FRCA.
  • Demonstrated interest in medical education and a minimum of 3 months experience in intensive care medicine is essential.
  • Applicants should be able to demonstrate an interest in medical education.
  • Trainees considering an out-of-programme experience would need agreement with the relevant Specialty Training Committee and Deanery.

The post may be suitable for ICM, anaesthetic or medical residents looking to take time out of their programme, post-CCT trainees seeking to develop ICU experience, or doctors considering a standalone senior clinical fellow post.
