Job description
Overview

The Royal Lancaster Infirmary is looking for a 6 month fixed term Senior Clinical Fellow in Paediatrics at Middle-Grade level, available from August 2025. Posts are based in the Paediatric Department at Royal Lancaster Infirmary and you will be part of a team delivering day-to-day care of patients on the Children's Ward and Neonatal Unit. You will be required to participate in the 1:8 resident on-call rota, which includes night duties, day shifts and weekends.

Responsibilities
  • Day-to-day care of patients on the Children’s Unit and Neonatal Unit, including coverage of the Central Delivery Suite and post-natal Ward.
  • Maintenance of patient records and generation of timely Discharge Summaries.
  • Participation in Consultant-led ward rounds undertaken by the Paediatric Team.
  • Emergency care of patients in the paediatric assessment unit and the emergency department.

Qualifications and Experience
  • Essential:
    • Full GMC registration with a licence to practise at time of appointment.
    • Medical Degree from a recognised university.
    • MBBS or recognised equivalent qualification.
    • APLS certified/in date (or equivalent).
    • NLS certified/in date (or equivalent).
  • Desirable:
    • Postgraduate Qualification in Paediatrics.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 2 years' experience in Paediatric Specialty.
    • Completion of at least four years of full-time postgraduate training (or equivalent on a part-time or flexible basis), with at least two years in a relevant specialty, or equivalent experience and competencies.
    • Evidence of achievement appropriate to ST3 level or higher.
    • Active involvement in Audit and Quality Improvement projects.
