Job description

The post holder will be working with a team of Consultants, Specialist Trainees, ClinicalFellows, Core Trainees and Foundation Year Trainees. Each post has a generic clinicalcomponent in Acute/General Medicine and the duties will be on the ED/MAU as describedin the information pack. In addition the post holder will have an agreed experience in thespecialty of their choice including outpatient clinics, ward cover, specialist in-patient reviewsand procedures, audit and research. The precise role within each team and the proportion ofclinical time spent between the two components would depend on previous experience andqualifications of the candidate and the specialty chosen. For candidates with more than 3years of post-qualification experience, MRCP or equivalent qualifications or full time researchexperience, Senior Fellowship position can be offered.

Main duties of the job

To comply with all GMC regulations such as laid out in "Good Medical Practice"

To observe the Trust's agreed policies and procedures, in particular in relation to managingstaff, and to follow the Trust's Standing Orders and Standing Financial Instructions.

To take responsibility for your own Health & Safety complying with any safe workingarrangements, policies and procedures which are in place.

To comply with all Trust requirements of appraisal, assessment and of the proposed medical training programme as stipulated by the programme leads.

To compete Trust general and local induction

To work appropriately and effectively within your clinical team within the limits of your competency under clinical and educational supervision.

In conjunction with Consultant and Senior colleagues, and commensurate with your grade, toplay a full part in the supervision and support of other members of your team including morejunior medical staff .

In conjunction with colleagues, to take responsibility for the best use of departmental staffingand other resources to ensure the maximum efficiency of the departmentand to take part in medical audit and research as appropriate.

To accept a duty to other staff and patients to ensure that any risks, incidents and hazards are reported and managed appropriately.
