Senior Clinical Fellow In NEONATAL MEDICINE
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Neonatal Doctor to join our dynamic team at the Royal Bolton Hospital to help further develop our Neonatal services.
Please note that Clinical Fellows are paid on a local pay scale that mirrors Doctors in Training pay scales. Basic salary offered for this role is fixed at £61825 and will not be uplifted beyond that salary point. Where the role requires out of hours working, evening, weekend and on call enhancements will be added according to a work schedule. It is Trust practice that we offer a set salary for this role and variations will not be considered.
It is anticipated that this post will be part of the core group of Consultant Neonatologists who, as a strong team, deliver a high quality intensive care service for the NICU at Bolton.
The successful applicant would work at Senior Clinical Fellow level including contributing to the out-of-hours rota. The post is composed of 40hr working week The job plan can be negotiated to fit in with the needs of the individual.
There is excellent scope to develop an area of special interest with the successful candidate being expected to:
Able to conduct ward rounds, review patients in intensive / high dependency/ special care and postnatal ward and formulate initial management plans, complete admission and discharge summaries etc.
Able to carry out common neonatal procedures - cannulation, lumbar puncture,
Umbilical venous and arterial catheterisation, PICC line insertion etc.
Able to support junior colleagues and work efficiently as a member of multidisciplinary team.
Able to commit to on call duties and actively participate in departmental teaching and governance activities.
Be aware of individual limitations and communicate effectively with the team and patients/ parents.
The successful candidate will be allocated SPA time in line with RCPCH guidance.
The Royal Bolton Hospital is a busy acute hospital with an excellent reputation for teaching and senior support. In 2011 we opened our new purpose-built Neonatal Intensive Care Unit which consists of a total of 36 cots, 9 of which are designated as Intensive Care. We have over 600 admissions per year of which over 100 are of very low birth weight.
