We have an exciting opportunity to appoint to a Senior Clinical Fellow in Vascular Surgery within University Hospitals of Derby and Burton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, based at the Royal Derby Hospital for 12 months commencing 31st December 2025.
The appointee will be actively involved in the running of the vascular unit including participating in ward rounds, theatre lists, day case lists and outpatient clinics, as well as providing support for the Consultants, SAS Doctors Specialist Vascular Nurses, Interventional Radiologists, patient coordinators, and junior medical team.
This post can be tailored according to the experience of the appointee. Possession of MRCS exam or equivalent is essential. Good computer and communication skills are a requirement. This post does not have a National Training Number. Weekly rotas will be flexible depending on the needs of the service.
The Senior Clinical Fellow post will participate in a dedicated Vascular Senior Specialty Trainee & SAS On-call rota.
Clinical components of role include supporting the vascular surgery team across all areas of the service including inpatient and day case elective theatre sessions, emergency operating, outpatient clinics, MDT and daily ward round.
Applicants should have a minimum of 2 years' experience in General Surgery not including Foundation years. Possession of the MRCS is essential. Candidates should be eligible to work in the UK and hold full GMC Registration at the time of application.
The post is based at the Royal Derby Hospital, one of the newest hospitals in the country, providing state of the art facilities with access to a full range of excellent diagnostic and treatment facilities including a 9 theatre operating suite with 3 fully integrated laparoscopic theatres, 3 day case theatres and a robotic theatre suite.

This post does not hold educational approval but is ideal for doctors who wish to pursue a career in Vascular Surgery. This post offers excellent opportunities to learn clinical and practical skills and there are regular surgical teaching rounds. Enthusiasm and experience of Undergraduate teaching is essential.
The appointees will work a 40 hour weekly programme with a mixed job plan to be agreed with the successful candidates prior to commencement. The provisional timetable consists of inpatient and day case elective theatre sessions, emergency operating, outpatient clinics, MDT and daily ward rounds, with the opportunity to participate in the dedicated vascular emergency on-call rota.
