Job description

Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join the UK's busiest Renal Transplantation Centre. We carry out almost 300 living donor and deceased donor Kidney Transplants a year and are one of the few centres who carry out simultaneous pancreas and kidney transplants.

We are looking for the successful candidates to be able to join us as soon as possible. You will be part of a team of 12 Senior Clinical Fellows, 4 Junior Clinical Fellows and working with 13 Consultant Surgeons. The Transplant team works alongside the Nephrology team and therefore will work closely with Nephrology Junior Doctors and Consultants.

Main duties of the job

The Department is one of the largest in the UK, providing kidney care to South East London, Kent and the Channel Islands. We also receive a significant number of complex referrals from a wider geographical area.

We are a supra-regional centre for combined kidney/pancreas transplantation. We also have the country's largest antibody incompatible transplant programme. We performed the first robotic transplants in the UK and have world-class expertise in vascular access and transplant urology.

We are nationally recognised for quality of care, innovation in clinical practice and service delivery, and for our close functional and geographical integration with the research programmes of both the MRC Transplantation Centre and the Comprehensive Biomedical Research Centre.

About us

GSTT is one of the largest hospital trusts in the country. The department also provides a surgical service to Paediatric services at Evelina and Great Ormond Street Hospitals and so there may be the opportunity to get exposure here as well if the successful candidate wishes.

We are part of King's Health Partners Academic Health Sciences Centre (AHSC), a pioneering collaboration between one of the world's leading research-led universities and three of London's most successful NHS Foundation Trusts. King's Health Partners includes seven hospitals and it brings together the best of research, clinical excellence and world-class teaching to deliver ground breaking advances in healthcare.
