A leading NHS trust in London is looking for a Senior Clinical Fellow to join their renal transplantation team. The role involves managing transplant surgeries and providing patient care in a multidisciplinary environment. Applicants must hold a Full GMC Registration and have significant surgical experience. This is a full-time, fixed-term position with a salary range of £61,825 to £70,425 per year.
Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity to join the UK's busiest Renal Transplantation Centre. We carry out almost 300 living donor and deceased donor Kidney Transplants a year and are one of the few centres who carry out simultaneous pancreas and kidney transplants.
We are looking for the successful candidates to be able to join us as soon as possible. You will be part of a team of 12 Senior Clinical Fellows, 4 Junior Clinical Fellows and working with 13 Consultant Surgeons. The Transplant team works alongside the Nephrology team and therefore will work closely with Nephrology Junior Doctors and Consultants.
Main duties of the jobThe Department is one of the largest in the UK, providing kidney care to South East London, Kent and the Channel Islands. We also receive a significant number of complex referrals from a wider geographical area.
We are a supra-regional centre for combined kidney/pancreas transplantation. We also have the country's largest antibody incompatible transplant programme. We performed the first robotic transplants in the UK and have world-class expertise in vascular access and transplant urology.
We are nationally recognised for quality of care, innovation in clinical practice and service delivery, and for our close functional and geographical integration with the research programmes of both the MRC Transplantation Centre and the Comprehensive Biomedical Research Centre.

Your rota will involve:
1) On-calls (managing the wards, emergency theatre and deceased donor transplants) alongside the on-call Consultant.
2) Elective Operating lists - this could be living donor transplants (Lap or Robot assisted), dialysis access surgery, transplant urology procedures or hernia/abdominal wall repairs
3) Clinics - this could be surgical assessment, post transplant follow up or pre-op assessment clinics
You will be encouraged to carry out audit and quality improvement projects as well as to join and deliver teaching sessions.
