Job summary

NHS Grampian is seeking applications for the Senior Clinical Fellow position in Plastic Surgery at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary and Aberdeen Royal Children’s Hospital. The role offers training in complex surgeries with a strong focus on hands-on experience and the opportunity for teaching. Applicants must have GMC registration and be prepared to participate in surgical training and emergency on-call duties.

Qualifications

  • Exceptional skills in complex surgeries, particularly in Free Flap and Hand surgery.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in training and complex surgeries at ARI and RACH.
  • Rotating between both hospitals during the fellowship.
  • Involve in Emergency On-Call Rota.

Job description

Applications are invited for the post of Senior Clinical Fellow in Plastic Surgery at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary (ARI) and Aberdeen Royal Children’s Hospital (RACH). The Senior Clinical Fellow post is available from 6 August 2025 until 4 August 2026

The unit has extensive experience in Free Flap surgery, Hand surgery, Paediatric Plastic surgery and Skin Cancer surgery. Aberdeen Royal Infirmary has a strong track record in international training courses. There will also be an opportunity to develop skills in teaching during these courses.

The Senior Clinical Fellow will rotate between Units in ARI and RACH both of which perform complex surgery routinely. The successful candidate will have exceptional hands-on experience, as the main emphasis will be training in theatre. Participation in the Emergency On-Call Rota is expected.
