Job summary

Applications are invited for the post of Senior Clinical Fellow in Pain Medicine and Neuromodulation [Trust Grade] at The Walton Centre NHS Foundation Trust, Liverpool.

This is a 1-year post, with a possibility to extend for a further 12 months.

The Clinical Fellow position would suit any trainee/ non training grade doctor with previous experience in anaesthesia and pain medicine, providing the opportunity to further gain pain medicine and neuromodulation experience in a supervised environment. This post may also be suitable for a post CCT trainee wishing to gain further tertiary level experience. This post is not recognized for training purposes by the Royal College of Anaesthetists.

Main duties of the job

This is an excellent opportunity for training and research in the field of complex pain techniques, including neuromodulation, to meet the future needs of trained pain management experts and to improve research output from these complex pain treatments. We do not have a dedicated pain neuromodulation fellowship at the moment and are aware of significant interest in this field. There is an active education program within the Pain Management Service. The weekly education session provides excellent presentations and discussions, together with audit presentations, and is attended by the Pain Consultants, Neurosurgeons and the multidisciplinary team, as well as Pain Consultants and staff from other units. Support for preparation towards the FFPMRCA exam is provided, and the exam success rate over the last 6 years has been 100%. The Pain Research Institute holds regular research discussion meetings, and there are regular journal club meetings.
