Job summary

A regional healthcare provider is seeking a Senior Clinical Fellow in Paediatrics to join their esteemed Paediatric team at a middle grade level. The candidate will partake in outpatient clinics, manage patients throughout their hospital stay, and supervise junior trainees. Candidates must hold a current GMC license and have significant paediatric experience, at least 3 years. Competitive working patterns and a commitment to flexible working are encouraged.

Qualifications

  • Must have at least 3 years of experience in paediatrics and neonates.
  • Ability to manage acutely ill patients safely.
  • Engagement in appraisal and revalidation is necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Manage patients' care throughout their hospital stay.
  • Deliver care in neonatal services and assess referred babies.
  • Participate in outpatient clinics and department's educational activities.

Senior Clinical Fellow in Paediatrics

The appointee will join the Paediatric team at middle grade level, rotating between General Paediatrics andNeonates. The appointee will take part in outpatient clinics under the supervision of the consultant teamand supervise the work of the junior trainees. Working patterns and timetables will be equivalent to thoseexpected of the training grade registrars. This includes normal day work, weekends and nights.

Main duties of the job
  • Managing paediatric patients throughout their hospital stay
  • Delivering care to Newborns in the Neonatal Services
  • Delivering care to the NICU/SCBU, labour ward & post-natal
  • Assessment of referred babies
  • The review of all babies as needed
  • Review of protocols as part of the team
  • The appointee will be expected to work flexible across the service as required, as and when service needs change
  • To take part in outpatient clinics under the supervision of the Consultant Paediatricians
  • To participate in the department's teaching, audit and educational activities

Qualifications
  • Hold a current licence to practice from the General Medical Council
  • Advanced Paediatric Life Support Certificate or equivalent
  • MRCPCH ( Member of Royal college of Paediatrics and Child Health)?
Knowledge
  • Experience of audit
Experience
  • Experience of working in paediatrics and neonates atleast for 3 years
  • Competencies equivalent to completion of ST3 ( Registrar) in Paediatrics
  • Recognition of and ability to undertake the initial management of an acutely ill patient
  • Ability to apply sound clinical knowledge and judgement to problems
  • NHS experience
Fitness to Practive
  • Up to date and fit to practice safely and aware of own training needs
  • Evidence of engagement with appraisal and revalidation
Skills
  • Able to evidence engagement with clinical governance and the identification of errors and the learning from errors
  • Able to show situational awareness and application of good decision making
  • Can evidence leading on patient safety issues and achieving a change in practice
  • Experience of supervising undergraduates, doctors in training and other colleagues
  • Ability to teach clinical skills
  • Experience in organising educational activities
