Job Description:

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK, employing around 40,000 staff across a wide range of clinical and non-clinical roles. We provide acute hospital, primary, community, and mental health services to a population of over 1.15 million, expanding to 2.2 million with regional and national services.

The Women & Children’s Directorate, part of the Acute Operating Division, is a world leader in child and maternal health services. The Royal Hospital for Children, located on the South Glasgow University Hospitals Campus, hosts many national and regional specialist services.

We invite applications for a Senior Clinical Fellow in paediatric otolaryngology, providing training equivalent to an experienced specialist registrar. The post offers extensive exposure to paediatric airway disorders within the Scottish National Service for Complex Paediatric Airway Reconstruction. The department handles a diverse workload, including secondary and tertiary paediatric otolaryngology, head and neck surgery, chronic otitis media surgery, bone-anchored hearing aids, and audiological medicine.

The successful candidate will join a team comprising seven consultant otolaryngologists, two specialty doctors, two registrars, one GP trainee, one clinical development fellow, two clinical nurse specialists, and two complex airway nurse specialists. The department has a dedicated paediatric audiological medicine specialist and is actively involved in research and education.

Applicants should primarily hold a CCT or equivalent in otolaryngology and seek additional paediatric experience before becoming a consultant. The position is approved for Specialist Registrar training by the SAC; therefore, candidates not yet holding a CCT but possessing a National Training Number in otolaryngology, along with support from their programme director and postgraduate dean, are encouraged to apply.
