Job description

The Neurosurgical team at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust is looking to recruit a full-time Skullbase Fellow.

The successful applicant will commence from December 2025 for a period of 6 months, extendable to one year subject to satisfactory appraisal at 5 months.

The skullbase fellow will work with Mr Nigel Mendoza and Mr Ramesh Nair at Charing Cross (CXH) hospital & St Mary’s Hospital (SMH).

This post is suitable for candidates wishing to subspecialise in skull base surgery, focusing on endoscopic procedures and neurovascular surgery.

The ideal candidate will be at year 7 or 8 of training, approaching CCT. Possession of FRCS (Surgical Neurosurgery) would be an advantage.

The applicant must have full GMC registration with a license to practice.

The Trust Resident Doctor (SpR/ST3+ level) will manage common acute and elective neurosurgical conditions, cranial and spinal, sharing on-call duties and handling patient queries from surrounding hospitals.

The post involves attending theatre as primary or assistant surgeon, reviewing patients in outpatient settings (face-to-face and remotely), participating in MDT and M&M meetings, conducting audits/Quality Improvement, teaching, and supervising junior doctors and the neurosurgical team.

Work is performed at Charing Cross and St Mary’s Hospitals.
