Job description

o Initial resuscitation and management of all emergency patients presenting to the department

o Initiation of the necessary investigation of patients and the referral to the relevant on-call specialist team when indicated

o Supervision and support to foundation and core training resident doctors

o Management and leadership of the acute medical take and hospital cardiac arrest team.

Main duties of the job

o Daily ward rounds, inpatient and outpatient management of patients, outpatients and endoscopyo To provide general medical care within the department in close co-operation with colleagues and other specialtieso To attend clinics and endoscopy lists for training and serviceo To participate in the department's teaching, audit, and educational activities

  • Experience at StR/ST3 and above or equivalent
  • NHS experience

Qualifications

  • Hold a current licence to practice from the General Medical Council

  • College Membership (MRCP) or qualification of an equivalent level

  • Able to evidence engagement with clinical governance and the identification of errors and the learning from errors
  • Able to show situational awareness and application of good decision making
  • Can evidence leading on patient safety issues and achieving a change in practice
  • Experience of supervising undergraduates, doctors in training and other colleagues
