Senior Clinical Fellow in Hand Surgery

The closing date is 21 October 2025

This is a fixed term position for 12 months from October 2026 for a Senior Hand Fellow in Hand Surgery to join our very busy and highly regarded Unit. We are looking for an individual who has either completed their specialist training or a final year trainee with significant interest and experience of modern hand surgery techniques.

Main duties of the job

Clinical duties will involve considerable supervised and unsupervised elective and trauma outpatient clinics and operating lists. A wide variety of procedures are performed, and the post holder will rotate between Consultants to allow supervision/instruction and maximise the experience.

Person Specification
Qualification and Eligibility
  • MBBS / MBChB or equivalent
  • Full MRCS/FRCS in either Plastic or Orthopaedic Surgery is required
  • Full GMC Registration with a license to practice at time of application
  • Entry on GMC specialist register
  • ATLS
  • Hand Diploma
Clinical Knowledge and Skills
  • Up to date knowledge & experience of modern Hand Surgery techniques
  • Completed specialist training or final year trainee.
  • Comprehensive Technical competence in Trauma & Elective Hand Surgery
  • Hand Surgery Courses and Conferences
  • Previous Hand Fellowship
Teaching, Audit and Research Experience
  • Evidence & experience of supervising and teaching resident doctors and medical students
  • Ability to & experience of teaching clinical skills
  • Evidence and ability to assess & apply evidence-based research into every day clinical practice
  • Evidence of active participation in audit
  • Experience of formal presentations
  • Evidence of ability to work as part of an MDT
  • Any teaching courses or qualifications
  • Participation in quality improvement activities
