The holder of the post will be accountable to the Consultant Physician and Hospital Director within General Medicine.

This is a fixed-term contract for 12 months from 6th August 2025 (with the possibility of extension). You will join colleagues in a dynamic and forward-looking General Medicine/Diabetes and Endocrinology service. You will be part of the medical on-call team and supported to develop a specialist interest in Diabetes and Endocrinology.

This role is ideal for those entering a specialty training program, those working towards CESR (with support to complete it), or those choosing a non-training post.

You will participate in D&E ward rounds and outpatient clinics, with support to develop skills in D&E techniques. You will be encouraged to develop a portfolio reflecting your skills, and to undertake quality improvement projects and audits. Teaching organization and support will also be encouraged.

Responsibilities include:
  • Providing effective leadership to all staff engaged in the specialty
  • Participating in, sustaining, and developing teaching and research
  • Adhering to the Health Board’s procedures and policies
  • Conducting clinical practice within contractual and service plan parameters
  • Utilizing core clinical expertise for routine diagnostics and patient assessment
  • Contributing to a sub-specialty service with experience and knowledge
  • Demonstrating leadership, team-building, and multidisciplinary teamwork skills
  • Supporting and training multidisciplinary teams
  • Planning community care alongside primary and social care teams
  • Managing patients under your team’s care at Prince Philip Hospital, supported by Junior Doctors
  • Supporting the development of hospital and community sub-specialty services
  • Contributing to the development and delivery of comprehensive services for the specialty
