The post is based at the Princess Royal University Hospital and the hospitals that make up the South Sites (Orpington Hospital and Queen Mary Hospital)
The post holder will be part of a team providing anaesthetic support to the resident on-call rotas in addition to daytime elective work. The on-call rotas rotate every 3 months between general and obstetric anaesthetics. Currently, each rota consists of 10 anaesthetists spending two fifths of their time on call (two 2-week blocks) and three fifths doing standard days (2 x 3-week blocks).
All employees are expected to undertake work on any of the Trust's sites as required by the service. As an employee, you will work in close cooperation with, and support, other clinical, medical professional, and managerial colleagues to provide high-quality healthcare to the Trust's patients. Provide a service for patients in collaboration with colleagues, including all aspects of treatment and relevant management duties for the proper functioning of the Care Group.
Share responsibility with colleagues for providing 24/7 cover for the unit on a rota basis, including covering colleagues' periods of annual leave and short-term sickness.
Participate in Multi-disciplinary Meetings.
Contribute to audit and clinical governance programmes.
Manage outpatient clinic commitments in peripheral hospitals as agreed with the Care Group management team.
Contribute to the Care Group's research interests in accordance with the Trust's R&D framework.
Work with clinical and other professional colleagues to maintain staff productivity and job satisfaction, which may include involvement in peer and junior colleague appraisals.
Comply with all Trust infection prevention and control policies, including hand hygiene, personal hygiene, environmental, and food hygiene.
Prepare for and undertake protective interventions responsibly, consistent with evidence-based practice and patient safety.
