Senior Clinical Fellow in Adult Critical Care and Major Trauma

Job Summary

Applications are invited for a 12-month position as Senior Clinical Fellow in Adult Critical Care and Major Trauma, starting August 2025. This role is suitable for candidates with anaesthetic/ICM experience aiming to enhance their CV and develop skills in ICM & Acute Care within a Major Trauma ICU. The fellow will spend 50% of their time focusing on Major Trauma, with opportunities for research, education, and quality improvement. Support for courses such as the European Trauma Course and faculty roles on NUH training courses are available.

Main Duties
  • Participate in the 1 in 8 airway rota across QMC and NCH critical care units.
  • Perform daily reviews of ICU patients, focusing on major trauma cases.
  • Support clinical decision-making alongside consultants.
  • Review critically unwell patients outside ICU.
  • Admit, stabilise, and manage critically unwell adults, including initiating ventilation and organ support, and transferring patients as needed.
About Us

NUH includes Queens Medical Centre and Nottingham City Hospital. Critical care units are based at both campuses with a combined capacity of approximately 66 beds and around 4,500 admissions annually. NUH is the East Midlands Major Trauma Centre, the busiest in Europe, with a large multidisciplinary team supporting patient care.

Post details include salary depending on experience, a fixed-term 12-month contract, full-time hours, and eligibility criteria including GMC registration, postgraduate training, and UK-based anaesthetic/ICM experience.
