A leading NHS trust in Coventry is seeking an HPB Senior Clinical Fellow to gain experience in Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic surgery. The role involves managing pre- and post-operative patients, providing senior cover for HPB patients, and participating in theatre sessions and clinics. Candidates will receive training in robotic surgery and patient care. This position offers significant exposure to complex HPB surgery with opportunities for professional development.
Applications are open for a HPB Senior Clinical Fellow who wishes to gain experience in Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic surgery. The role is suitable for a senior trainee for a maximum of five months.
The Senior Clinical Fellow will be expected to manage pre- and post-operative patients, and will be encouraged to publish and present at local and international meetings in HPB. The role includes modular HPB case hands-on training (STU) for benign and malignant conditions, cross-site case observations, and undertaking a 1:18 on-call rota to support emergency care.
In addition to HPB registrar duties, the post involves providing senior cover for HPB patients, attending theatre and outpatient sessions, and caring for admitted general surgical patients. The candidate will carry out some clinics independently and will have access to modern imaging, endoscopy, and robotics on a single site.
This position offers excellent exposure and experience in complex HPB surgery, with opportunities to develop operative skills in robotic surgery and patient care judgment across the spectrum of the specialty.
University Hospital is a large, tertiary care, level III trauma unit affiliated with Warwick Medical School, renowned for research and innovation. The typical rota includes ward rounds, clinics, theatre sessions (including robotic), journal clubs, and teaching, with duties and responsibilities adaptable to service needs.
Successful applicants will need to provide an immunisation and vaccination report from their current UK occupational health provider or GP.
