A leading NHS Trust in Wolverhampton is seeking a dedicated middle-grade doctor to work in the cardiology department. Responsibilities include providing ward support and participating in the on-call rota. Successful candidates will gain valuable experience in outpatient clinics and catheter laboratory procedures. Flexible working arrangements are considered. This position aims at improving patient care and meeting clinical governance standards.
The post holder will work in the cardiology department as an integral member of the cardiology and cardiothoracic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing ward support as a ‘middle grade of the week’ role, working alongside the consultant of the week to provide inpatient care for cardiology patients. They will also gain experience in outpatient clinics, catheter laboratory procedures (including coronary angiography and pacemaker insertion), and echocardiography. The post holder will participate in the on-call rota, which is currently a 1:12 full shift system, including the provision of a 24/7 primary PCI service to Wolverhampton and surrounding regions.

**Main Responsibilities:**
- Participate in departmental rota and provide cover for colleagues during leave.
- Engage in medical audit and research to support clinical governance.
- Ensure effective communication channels for patient care.
- Supervise junior medical staff in conjunction with Consultants and Senior colleagues.
- Optimize departmental staffing and resources for efficiency.
- Follow Trust policies and procedures, including Standing Orders and Financial Instructions.
- Ensure clinical governance requirements are met.
- Take responsibility for personal health and safety, report hazards, and ensure a safe working environment.
- Perform any other duties deemed appropriate by the department.
