A leading healthcare provider seeks a Specialty Doctor in Anaesthetics to join their multidisciplinary team at Worcestershire Acute Hospitals. The role encompasses providing anaesthetic and critical care services across various departments, offering a collaborative environment with opportunities for professional development. Applicants should have completed postgraduate training and possess full GMC registration, along with relevant certifications.
The Anaesthetic department provides services to three sites - Worcestershire Royal Hospital (WRH), Alexandra Hospital Redditch (AHR), and Kidderminster Treatment Centre (KTC), encompassing all major specialities with a strong countywide working ethos.Recent surgical reconfiguration means most elective surgery will be delivered on the Alexandra Hospital site, while the majority of emergency, trauma and obstetric work will be on the WRH site. KTC functions as a day-case and short-stay surgical unit. Applicants will be required to contribute to the Theatres, Obstetric and WRH/Alex Intensive Care rotas.
All candidates must have completed 4 years full time equivalent postgraduate training, with at least 2 years in anaesthesia/ICM as per the standard Specialty Doctor terms and conditions.
The Intensive Care service provides countywide support to two Intensive Care Units a 15 bedded unit at Worcestershire Royal Hospital and an 8 bedded unit at the Alexandra Hospital, Redditch. The service is funded to 15 level three equivalent beds which are staffed flexibly across the county depending on need. Between them, they admit approximately 900 patients per annum
Main duties of the job
The post holder will join a friendly and supportive directorate and will help to provide a wide range of both anaesthetic and critical care services, as well as enjoying the opportunity to pursue special interests outside of their clinical work. The directorate currently provides anaesthetic services in Worcester, Redditch and Kidderminster.
Out of hours responsibilities will rotate around both Worcester and Redditch. At both the Alexandra Hospital & Worcestershire Royal Hospital the out of hours resident staff cover is based on a 1 in 8 frequency request rota including prospective cover.
Duty Periods:
Normal working day: 08:00 17:30
Long day: 08:00 20:00
Night Shift: 19:30 08:30
