Job summary

We are seeking doctors with at least four years of postgraduate experience, particularly those who have worked in Acute, General, Emergency Medicine, or other acute medical specialties. The role involves joining our Trust as Senior Clinical Fellows at ST 3+ level, with a commitment to the General Medical on-call rota. We offer both permanent and fixed-term posts based on candidate preference.

This position is ideal for doctors considering a career in Medicine, offering broad experience in the Medical Specialty of their choice (e.g., Acute, Frailty, Respiratory, Cardiology, or Diabetes and Endocrinology), along with comprehensive General Medicine exposure.

The posts are based at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Woolwich, featuring the busiest Emergency Department in South East London, serving a diverse population with a higher incidence of conditions like Malaria and Sickle Cell Disease.

Successful candidates will join a dynamic emergency team treating a wide spectrum of acute and emergency cases. This is an excellent opportunity to expand your experience in a supportive environment, with a strong training culture including academic time, weekly training, lectures, clinical supervision, and clinic attendance.

Main duties of the job

These posts complement our existing team of 19 middle-grade doctors within the Medical Division at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, including IMT3s, ST4+ trainees, and Trust Senior Clinical Fellows.

The current general medical on-call team includes 2 registrars covering 0800-2100 daily and overnight shifts from 2000-0900. When not on-call, there is flexibility to base your specialty training in areas such as Cardiology, Respiratory, Frailty, Acute Medicine, or Diabetes and Endocrinology, with at least 4 months in Acute Medicine.

Positions are available on a substantive or fixed-term basis for at least one year, with a typical rota frequency of 1:10 and up to 48 hours per week.
