Job overview

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Crisis Resolution and Intensive Support Service (CRISS) in Leeds as a psychological professional. The CRISS Service in Leeds and York NHS Partnership Foundation Trust provides urgent assessment and intensive home treatment provision to service users in Leeds experiencing a mental health crisis. CRISS offers a 24-hour service; however, the psychology provision is within regular working hours Mon-Fri with the potential of working condensed hours. The CRISS service has recently undergone a re-structure of the service delivery model, following a recent Core Fidelity assessment.

We are currently expanding the psychological workforce in this service and looking for a highly motivated individual committed to high-quality service user-focused care. This post would link to either the West or South locality, and you would work alongside another 8a, an 8b and be supported by a Consultant Psychological Professional colleague working strategically across the acute pathway. We will also be recruiting Assistant Psychologists to support the psychological work in the teams.

We are encouraging of development opportunities for staff and aim to support staff in developing skills in EMDR and DBT.

Main duties of the job

The team is made up of many different disciplines, including, nurses, OTs, harm reduction workers, Health support workers and medical staff. There is strong leadership and practice development support in the team. There are many opportunities to get involved and lead service improvement projects.

The psychological professions workforce is supported by a Deputy Director of Psychological Professions and Professional Leads. We are committed to robust professional leadership, equality, diversity and inclusion and supporting staff wellbeing and CPD. Our previous Psychological Professions Strategy was achieved and we are in the process of writing a new strategy.

Interview date will be in person the week commencing the 3rd of February 2025.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
  1. To provide psychological assessment, risk assessment and formulation with SUs and staff.
  2. To support staff to continue to use formulations.
  3. To provide high quality psychological interventions.
  4. To attend relevant MDTs to offer a psychological perspective.
  5. To research and deliver innovative psychological ways of working.
  6. To be a senior psychological professional within a locality, contributing to relevant service improvement projects.
  7. To supervise other psychological professional staff as appropriate within the organisation.
  8. To supervise assistant psychologists within the CRISS service.
  9. To facilitate adherence to the Core fidelity model within CRISS.
  10. To help embed outcomes measures and assist with Trust priorities.
  11. To provide training to LYPFT colleagues and on the D Clin Psych course as needed.
  12. To provide trainee placements where appropriate.
Person specification
Qualifications
  • Doctoral level training in Clinical or Counselling Psychology (or equivalent prior to 1996) and HCPC registration;
  • OR Postgraduate Diploma qualification in Cognitive and/or Behavioural Psychotherapy AND Accreditation with BABCP as a CBT therapist. With either a prior core profession or via KSA route.
Training
  • Additional significant post qualification training relevant to the service and job role outlined in the job summary.
  • Formal training in supervision of others.
Experience
  • Significant post qualification experience in an area of practice relevant to the service specified in the job summary, to include assessment of risk.
