Main duties of the jobLead a small team of clinical coders providing appraisals and check ins
Provide mentoring and feedback to junior staff
Responsible for own coding workload ensuring timeliness of work as well as accuracy

Person specificationQualifications, Specific Experience & TrainingEssential criteria- National Clinical Coding Qualification (UK)
- Significant clinical coding experience post Standards/Foundation course and post NCCQ
- Clinical Coding Standards Course
- Clinical Coding Standards Refresher Course
- Educated to A-level standard
Desirable criteria- Educated to degree level
- Attendance on Clinical Coding Workshops
- Experience of Clinical Coding Audit
- Membership of professional organisation
Knowledge and SkillsEssential criteria- Good planning and organisational skills
- National and local performance and quality standards
- Relevant Data Security and Protection Toolkit Requirements
- Understanding of SNOMED CT
- Excellent concentration and attention to detail
- Good communication skills both written and verbal
- Ability to concentrate for prolonged periods of time
- Working knowledge of Cerner Millennium

DBS InformationTrust policy requires that the cost of submitting & processing a DBS application is met by the successful applicant/s. DBS costs are recovered via salary deduction following starting in post.
If the post you are applying for requires a DBS - Inline with Trust policy the cost of submitting and processing a DBS for successful applications would be met by the individual themselves. The amount would vary depending on the level required: Standard Disclosure £21.50+£6.50 or Enhanced Disclosure £49.50+£6.50 (please be aware the additional sum is an administration fee and may increase due to inflation). This will be deducted from your salary, in manageable monthly instalments for up to 3 months following commencement of employment.
