More detail about the role

As an Accredited Clinical Coder, you will have experience coding a variety of specialties within an acute NHS organization. You should have a flexible and adaptable approach and strive to create accurate clinically coded data, following national coding standards, rules, and conventions, to ensure the Trust data is robust.

The Clinical Coding Team handles extraction and translation of inpatient clinical information using ICD- and OPCS-4 classifications. This data is crucial for Trust management, the National Tariff Payment System, clinical audits, governance, and research.

The post involves coding inpatient and day-case episodes across all specialties at Royal Devon University Healthcare Hospitals. You will liaise with clinicians and clinical teams to verify data in the Electronic Patient Record.

You will contribute to the development of novice coders and assist in training less experienced staff. We offer comprehensive training and development, including an in-house training and audit program with ongoing professional development.

Applications are encouraged from ACC qualified coders with experience across various specialties in an NHS Trust, and who have attended a refresher course in the last three years. Remote working applications from outside the local area are welcome.
