Job summary

Elsevier’s One Earth is seeking a Senior Scientific Editor to shape climate content and steer editorial direction. You will manage peer review for climate submissions, engage with authors and reviewers, and commission key front-matter content.

The role offers hybrid work from London or Amsterdam and opportunities to influence sustainability discourse. The ideal candidate holds a PhD, has editorial exposure, and demonstrates strong writing, communication, and collaboration across disciplines.

Qualifications

• PhD or equivalent in a relevant scientific discipline.
• Previous editorial experience preferred.
• Broad interest across sustainability research.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and in an international team.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the peer review process for climate-related submissions.
• Edit and commission Reviews, Perspectives, and front-matter content.
• Engage with authors, reviewers, and the sustainability community.
• Contribute to editorial strategy and thematic issues for One Earth.
• Represent the journal at conferences and institutional visits.
