The Role:

We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Business Development Manager / Client Partner to lead our expansion into the UK Public Sector, creating and scaling a standalone revenue stream for our fast-growing Data Cloud and AI consultancy. This role is pivotal in developing and executing go-to-market strategies across key public sector segments, crafting innovative routes to market, and building trusted client partnerships to drive pipeline growth, deal velocity, and revenue impact.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a UK Public Sector strategy aligned with business growth objectives
  • Segment the public sector landscape (Central Gov, Local Gov, NHS, Defence, Education, etc.) to identify high-ROI subsectors
  • Prioritise target accounts and frameworks, defining a clear entry and expansion strategy within each
  • Build and scale multiple market entry points including:
  • Strategic alliances with technology vendors (AWS, Microsoft, Google Cloud, Snowflake, Databricks, etc.)
  • Collaborate with prime award partners for joint bids on larger public sector programmes
  • Own relationship development with procurement bodies, framework owners, and key public sector buyers
  • Lead business development activities end-to-end: prospecting, qualifying, proposal creation, negotiation and closing
  • Work with marketing to craft tailored campaigns and outreach strategies to public sector buyers
  • Collaborate with technical, delivery, and industry teams to co-develop compelling business outcome-led propositions
  • Maintain a deep understanding of public sector needs, digital strategies, regulations, and political trends

Personal Specification:

  • Must have a demonstratable background of enterprise-level sales or business development experience, with significant focus on UK public sector clients
  • Show success in building a public sector vertical from the ground up within a consulting, SaaS, or cloud/AI solutions firm
  • In-depth knowledge of UK public sector procurement, key frameworks, and government buying behaviours
  • Experience in building GTM strategies via technology partnerships and co-selling alliances
  • Proven track record of delivering multi-million-pound deals (TCV) with long sales cycles and complex stakeholder environments
  • Strong understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and emerging AI/data capabilities
  • Experience with scalable service-based or outcome-based pricing models
  • Strategic thinker with hands-on delivery mindset, with gravitas and credibility to influence senior public officials and procurement leads
