Job description

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Client Accountant to join their expanding Accounting Services team in Jersey. This is a full-time, permanent role offering the opportunity to take ownership of a varied client portfolio and contribute to the delivery of high-quality financial reporting and accounting services. The successful candidate will prepare and review annual financial statements, management accounts, and support audits, while mentoring junior colleagues and driving continuous improvement.

Job Duties:

  • Manage day-to-day accounting tasks for a portfolio of clients
  • Prepare and review annual financial statements and management accounts
  • Act as the primary contact for external auditors and assist with audit preparations
  • Support the submission of VAT returns and other regulatory filings
  • Monitor the timely preparation of financial information across the team
  • Review work prepared by bookkeepers and junior accountants
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members
  • Identify opportunities to enhance processes and develop the service offering
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, procedures, and controls
  • Liaise with clients, internal teams, and other service lines to maintain strong relationships

Job Requirements:

  • Qualified accountant (e.g. ACCA, ACA or equivalent)
  • Experience in client accounting or accounts preparation, ideally with exposure to high-volume bookkeeping
  • Direct client-facing experience is essential - candidates from internal finance teams (e.g. management accountants within law firms) will not typically have the transferable skills required
  • Demonstrated experience in real estate accounting or client accounting for real estate
  • Experience with assets or real estate is essential - property management accounting experience is not transferable
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Strong communication and client relationship skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office packages
  • Proactive and analytical mindset, with a keen attention to detail
