Job summary

Jobtailor in Manchester is seeking a diligent trainee accountant to support a small portfolio of clients; you will prepare accounts, corporation tax returns, P11D, and management accounts, and review Director self‑assessment and VAT returns for accuracy.

This role emphasises learning, cloud accounting using Xero and Dext, handling client queries, and spotting opportunities for service expansion while maintaining compliance.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Manage a small portfolio of clients.
• Prepare accounts, corporation tax returns, P11D, management accounts and references for review.
• Review Director self‑assessment tax returns and client‑prepared VAT returns for accuracy and compliance.
• Handle complex client queries with proactive communication.
• Identify new service opportunities and flag scope creep to the Client Manager.
• Provide feedback on bookkeeping errors to enhance accuracy.
• Review VAT returns prepared by Accounting Technicians and ensure timely submission.
• Complete delegated Xero/Dext training.
• Enhance client value through regular reviews, training and proactive insights.
