Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic professional to join our team as a Senior Claims Handler/Claims Manager (depending on experience). The Senior Claims Handler will provide effective claims handling and advice to Members in accordance with the Claims Department’s guidelines and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Handle allocated claims and related tasks, with emphasis on claims from Chartering Members, in compliance with the Claims Department’s guidelines to provide optimal claims services within designated authority levels, including:
- Assessing risk and liability through collecting, analyzing, and assimilating information
- Providing advice or recommendations to Members on claims handling strategy to resolve claims cost-effectively and expediently
- Raising estimates, processing payments and reimbursements, and liaising with the Head of FD&D in FD&D cases
- Maintaining regular reviews of claims and estimates according to company requirements
- Monitoring time bars and key dates through appropriate diary reviews
- For FD&D claims, assessing coverage, monitoring costs, requesting support, and liaising with relevant teams in case of issues
- Supporting knowledge management by sharing relevant information with the Head of Claims and Departments
- Managing documents and files to ensure accessibility and compliance with health and safety standards
- Providing guidance, supervision, and training to staff and third parties as needed
- Monitoring claims performance and fleet development, advising relevant departments
- Visiting Members and stakeholders to strengthen relationships and improve service delivery
- Participating in training seminars and programs
- Liaising with various departments and teams as required
Qualifications and Skills
- At least 3-5 years’ experience in a law firm or P&I Club, handling P&I and FDD work
- Team player with good interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities and deadlines
