Job summary

Hastings Direct is seeking a Senior Claims Handler to manage a Bodily Injury portfolio, investigating liability and negotiating settlements up to £50,000. You will balance customer outcomes with policy guidance, while maintaining regulatory and internal standards.

You will work with customers, solicitors and third parties, ensuring a high-quality experience, and contributing to our 4Cs culture through effective stakeholder collaboration.

Qualifications

• Experience handling bodily injury/personal injury claims up to £50,000.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage relationships with customers, solicitors and third parties.

Responsibilities

• Gather information to enable early liability decision and consider economic settlement.
• Settle third party claims within authority to achieve optimum settlement and avoid unnecessary costs.
• Identify potential fraudulent cases and liaise with relevant departments.
• Negotiate between customers, solicitors and third parties for best outcomes.
• Manage and own the customer experience, ensuring Treating Customers Fairly and process adherence.
• Maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders and ensure SLAs and governance.
• Demonstrate experience in managing bodily injury/personal injury claims up to £50,000.
• Exhibit excellent verbal and written communication.

Job description

As one of our Senior Claims Handlers within Bodily Injury, you'll be assisting and supporting our customers by proactively managing a portfolio of cases, investigating liability and third party presented quantum claims - Damage and Personal Injury claims up to the value of £50,000 - and agreeing fair outcomes within policy and legal liability.,

• Gathering of information to enable early arrival at the correct liability decision giving consideration to economic settlement and proactively securing appropriate recoveries to limit business exposure
• Settling Third Party claims within your financial handling authority to achieve the optimum claims settlement using department and best practice strategies, whilst avoiding unjustified litigation and unnecessary spend
• Identifying potential fraudulent cases and liaising with the relevant departments to combat fraud
• Negotiating between the customer, solicitors and third parties to get the best outcome for our customers
• Managing and owning the customer experience (including third party), ensuring adherence at all times to the principles of Treating Customers Fairly and internal processes and procedures
• Managing and maintaining effective relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, ensuring service level agreements, policies and governance arrangements are adhered to
• Previous experience in managing bodily injury/personal injury claims up to £50,000
• Excellent problem-solving capability with an outstanding level of communication (both verbal and written)
• Strong stakeholder management skills, combined with a customer centric focus and able to build strong relationships
