Your Day-to-Day:

  • Act as the project’s single point of authority and accountability for the CS&A engineering discipline.
  • Dependent on project scope, lead a multi-disciplined engineering team reporting to the Project Manager and working closely with the client’s responsible engineering team.
  • Responsible for the development of key CS&A design deliverables, checking and approval of calculations, ensuring that design deliverables are of a high standard and compliant with relevant standards, regulations, and customer-specific standards.
  • Ensuring that design consultants and sub-contractors deploy suitably qualified and experienced personnel.
  • Production of documentation that is technically accurate, grammatically correct, correctly formatted, and professionally presented.
  • Preparing and reviewing quality plans for multi- or single-discipline work packages.
  • Ensure work delivered is within the defined scope and completed on time and within budget.
  • Manage resolutions to technical issues and ensure necessary change control is implemented, addressing commercial impacts.
  • Ensure designs are compliant with CDM regulations and have designer responsibility under CDM.
  • Present CS&A engineering designs to clients and key stakeholders, who may be discipline experts or non-discipline related.
  • Present technical solutions at design reviews and HAZOPs.
  • Production and checking of safety-related documents such as Hazard Management Strategy and Engineering Substantiation / Justifications Report.
  • Develop estimates, define deliverables, clarify scope/exclusions, and develop programme logic at bid/tender stages.
  • Mentor a team of engineers/designers to improve their skills and enhance the company’s capabilities.
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with key counterparts in client or partner organizations.

Who You Are:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher.
  • Chartered Member of the ICE.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the UK (this is a permanent position and no sponsorship is available).
  • Minimum 5+ years’ experience in industry, ideally 2+ years in the nuclear industry or other highly regulated sectors.
  • Detailed knowledge of standards, regulations, codes, and directives, and how they should be applied.
  • Proven knowledge of the theories, principles, practices, and techniques of CS&A design.
  • Strong knowledge in the production of Technical Files for new products/plant and equipment.
  • Broad experience of civil construction and construction management.
  • Strong knowledge of designing for seismic, blast, and impact load effects.
