Job Description

Your purpose:

Part-time opportunities like this don’t come along very often.

Are you an experienced and innovative senior civil or structural engineer, who’s built deep technical experience in highly regulated environments – we’re thinking nuclear, power or rail – but are now looking for a part-time role?

You may be a returning parent, seeking to rebalance your work/life commitments, or perhaps you’re considering retiring but know you’ve still got something left in the tank!

The AtkinsRéalis commitment to diversity means we live and breathe acceptance and support. We will value the knowledge and skills you bring, and ensure you have the tools, working pattern and training (if necessary) to work on some of the UK’s biggest infrastructure projects.

Our teams are growing, so you’ll be leading on a wide range of new build nuclear projects including Hinkley Point C, Sizewell C, SMRs and future fusion technologies. You’ll cultivate strong working relationships with clients and colleagues alike and continue to share your knowledge and support our junior team members to grow, too.

If you have experience in any of these (we don’t need you to have them all!) please get in touch:

  • Relevant level of professional experience which could be from civil-structural design and analysis (steelwork and reinforced concrete), research and development, project engineering or design consultancy.
  • Coordination across multidisciplinary projects.
  • Leading, undertaking, and reviewing design of new building structures, and taking responsibility for project ownership.
  • Working in highly regulated environments such as nuclear, power or rail.
  • Experienced in writing bids and tenders to win work.
  • Thrives on managing, leading and mentoring staff.
  • Able to work collaboratively from our offices and across our client sites to understand clients’ needs and deliver to time, cost and quality.

What you can bring?

Are you excited by the prospect of developing your technical capability into something more specialist, or energised by the idea of supporting a team on one of our many world-renowned projects utilising “best-in-class” digital technology to impress our clients?

Would you be committed to bidding projects for future work opportunities?

Do you enjoy exercising a questioning mind and perfecting your inquisitiveness to innovate solutions and influence project outcomes?

Are you capable of taking a complex problem and digesting it to form a concise and proportionate solution?

Can your leadership and influence nurture our client relationships, inspire your colleagues and develop our staff?

Why work for AtkinsRéalis?

The UK is the first major economy to legislate for a Net Zero target by 2050. To achieve this, our nuclear and clean energy teams are ensuring a mix of secure and sustainable energies that can meet our industry and lifestyle demands today, and in 30 years' time. We help to power our world through exciting new technologies and intelligent cybersecurity systems on projects that vary greatly in size, scope, and scale. So, you'll be creating the right safe and resilient systems across nuclear power, renewables, decarbonisation development, new builds and energy efficiency.
