The Project

As a highly experienced Senior Civil/Structural Engineer you will be based in Warrington, playing a crucial role overseeing a diverse range of projects across a wide range of sectors including railway infrastructure, temporary works, bridges and geotechnics with values in excess of £20m. Your responsibilities will include leading the design and analysis, ensuring regulatory compliance, and managing project timelines, resources, and budgets to ensure successful delivery across all projects.

Requirements

For this role it is essential that you carry the following professional qualifications as a minimum;

  1. Relevant Civil / Structural Engineering Degree
  2. Working towards Chartership (ICE or IStructE)
  3. Full UK driving license
It is also essential that you hold the experience below;
  1. Strong background within the industry, holding a minimum of 4 years' experience
  2. Proven history of successfully operating on various projects within the railway infrastructure, temporary works, bridges and geotechnics sector
  3. Previous experience operating as a Senior Civil / Structural Engineer or similar working for a trusted leader in the industry
Additional skills;
  1. Expertise in using design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, SAP2000, STAAD Pro)
  2. In-depth knowledge of civil and structural engineering principles, codes, and standards
  3. Thorough understanding of local, national, and international construction codes, regulations, and standards

Duties

  1. Guide and support junior staff
  2. Preparing tenders and fee proposals
  3. Manage and oversee individual projects and client accounts
  4. Allocating and managing the Junior Engineers and Technicians
  5. Identify potential risks related to design, construction, or project delivery
  6. Liaising with clients, verifying project scope and ensuring deliverables are met
  7. Conduct thorough design checks and ensure the quality of engineering solutions
  8. Ensure all designs comply with relevant codes, regulations, and client requirements
  9. Review civil and structural designs, including calculations by hand and computer models
  10. Manage project timelines, resources, and budgets, while addressing any issues that arise
  11. Lead engineering teams, delegating tasks and offering guidance to ensure high-quality output
  12. Develop and review civil/structural designs, including calculations, drawings, and specifications
  13. Oversee site inspections and assessments to verify construction quality and adherence to design
  14. Develop mitigation strategies to address risks, including safety and environmental considerations
  15. Coordinating with the directors to prepare and manage project schedules, workloads and resources
  16. Conduct training sessions and share knowledge to foster professional development within the team
  17. Communicate with clients to understand project requirements and ensure their expectations are met
  18. Provide technical guidance and review designs prepared by junior engineers and other team members
  19. Build and sustain strong relationships with both existing and new clients, fostering opportunities for repeat business
  20. Perform site inspections, surveys and structural assessments, compiling comprehensive reports based on the results
  21. Lead and oversee civil / structural projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and in accordance with design specifications
  22. Ensure comprehensive documentation of all project components, including designs, communications, and compliance records
