Job summary

McDermotts is seeking an experienced Senior Planner to join our civil engineering team in the UK. The role focuses on robust Primavera P6 programmes and active contribution to construction strategy, resource planning, and contractual programme management.

The successful candidate will work closely with Site Managers, Engineers and Project Managers on groundworks and infrastructure projects under NEC and JCT contracts, ensuring accurate progress updates and timely programme recovery.

Qualifications

• Minimum 7–10 years planning/scheduling experience in civil engineering or major infrastructure.
• Strong practical experience with Primavera P6 and complex programmes.
• Experience working with NEC contracts and Tier 1/2 contractors.
• Ability to interrogate and analyse programme logic.
• Experience with resource loading and histograms.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain and update detailed Primavera P6 programmes from contract-level through detailed construction activity.
• Develop short-term / look-ahead programmes to support site delivery.
• Own NEC Clause 32 programme updates and record progress and forecast dates.
• Provide clear programme narratives explaining changes to sequence and forecast completion.
• Support Project Manager with programme evidence for Early Warnings, Compensation Events and risk discussions.
