We are seeking a Senior Civil & Infrastructure Engineer to join our growing team in the water sector.
Role Accountabilities
- Project Delivery
- Collaborate with other discipline engineers and manage quality through design workflow review to achieve time, cost, and quality standards.
- Ensure deliverables meet required standards and specifications.
- Review civil designs, calculations, and specifications.
- Undertake site visits for asset condition surveys and assessment for reuse.
- Check specifications, work scope, and schedules for procurement and review supplier designs for quality, safety, and standards compliance.
- For infrastructure design, review hydraulic design of gravity pipelines and pipe specifications.
- Address construction site design queries and change requests to ensure accuracy and suitability.
- Support resource forecasting and allocation with the Senior Design Manager and Design Managers.
- Assist Project Design Managers and other disciplines in planning and stakeholder management.
- Seek guidance from Principal Civil or Infrastructure Engineers.
- Health & Safety (CDM)
- Promote excellence in health, safety, and welfare for civil & infrastructure engineering.
- Ensure designs comply with all relevant standards and regulations, including DSEAR if trained.
- Participate in CDM meetings and contribute to risk assessments and pre-construction info.
- Develop alerts for lessons learned.
- Personal & Team Development
- Support recruitment and manage performance of civil & infrastructure engineers.
- Mentor and develop junior team members, including graduates and apprentices.
- Participate in continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.
- Support wider company initiatives and incident responses where appropriate.
- Transformation
- Stay updated on industry changes and innovations.
- Support digital transformation, including 3D modeling.
- Assist in reducing carbon footprint and enhancing natural capital in designs.
- Help establish and embed standard assets and procedures.
Qualifications & Experience
- Engineering degree or equivalent experience.
- Chartered or working towards Chartered status.
- Experience with water-sector assets and projects.
- Knowledge of relevant regulations and standards.
- Experience mentoring junior engineers.
- Experience in a Design & Build environment (preferred but not essential).
