Job summary

HBP Ltd is a long-established, family-run civil engineering, aggregates and waste management business serving Cumbria and the North West. We seek an experienced Estimator to prepare competitive estimates for civil works and groundworks, from enquiry to submission, aligning with commercial and project teams.

You will analyse drawings and specs, obtain quotations, cost materials, plant and labour, and help develop viable tender submissions across varied projects.

Qualifications

• Experience as an Estimator in civil engineering or construction.
• Ability to interpret drawings, specs, and tender docs.
• Experience taking-off quantities and preparing detailed estimates.
• Experience obtaining supplier/subcontractor quotations.
• Good understanding of construction methods, materials and labour.

Responsibilities

• Review tender opportunities and enquiries.
• Analyse drawings, specifications, and schedules.
• Prepare detailed estimates for civil works.
• Obtain quotations from subcontractors and suppliers.
• Costing for materials, plant, labour and subcontractors.
• Produce Bills of Quantities and pricing schedules.
• Take-offs from drawings and specs; identify risks and opportunities.
• Collaborate with commercial, operations and project teams on bids.
• Support handover of tenders to delivery teams.
