Job summary

Lester Lloyd Limited seeks a Senior Civils Estimator in a hybrid role, with two days from home. The position involves pricing a varied portfolio of civil engineering works including roads, bridges and footpaths, while assessing commercial risks and opportunities.

You will collaborate with commercial, operational and pre-construction teams to ensure competitively priced and viable tenders. As the senior estimator, you’ll review documents, obtain quotes, prepare take-offs and manage subcontractor

Qualifications

• Experience pricing projects such as roads, bridges, footpaths and highways or associated infrastructure works.
• Strong understanding of construction costs, subcontractor procurement and tender preparation.
• Commercially aware, detail-oriented and confident managing tenders from initial enquiry through to submission.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships with clients, suppliers and internal teams.

Responsibilities

• Preparing detailed and accurate cost estimates for civil engineering projects.
• Pricing tenders for roads, bridges, footpaths and general civil engineering works.
• Analysing drawings, specifications, bills of quantities and tender documentation.
• Obtaining and assessing subcontractor and supplier quotations.
• Preparing take-offs, material quantities, labour costs, plant costs and subcontract packages.
• Identifying commercial risks, opportunities and potential value engineering solutions.
• Liaising with clients, consultants, suppliers and subcontractors throughout the tender process.
• Reviewing tender documentation and ensuring submissions meet client requirements.
• Working closely with project delivery teams to ensure a smooth handover following successful tender awards.
• Contributing to tender reviews, bid strategies and the ongoing development of the estimating function.
