What you will be doing:

An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Civil Estimator to join the team at Galliford Try.

As a Senior Civil Estimator, you will support the business through the submission of accurate and competitive tenders to satisfy client requirements and ensure the company secures new business to achieve targeted turnover and profit levels with year-on-year growth. You will primarily work as part of a versatile and experienced team on infrastructure/non-infrastructure projects in Clean Water, Wastewater, and Sludge Treatment. Galliford Try has Frameworks with all UK Water PLCs and a strong pipeline of work into AMP.

You will:

• Develop a tender win strategy for each project.
• Build and maintain long-term relationships with key supply chain partners.
• Identify margin growth opportunities, analyze risks, and produce risk registers.
• Participate in post-tender interviews, presentations, and negotiations with clients, and facilitate smooth handovers to delivery teams.
• Innovate to differentiate bids from competitors.
• Gather feedback on successful projects and advise on future tenders.
• Prepare preliminary site cost estimates in line with company requirements.
• Compile submission documents aligned with bid and corporate standards.
• Attend tender meetings, ensuring all relevant cost data is available for presentation.
• Support and guide other estimating team members.
• Complete PDRs for all direct reports.

About You:

• Motivated, enthusiastic self-starter.
• Extensive estimating experience from first principles.
• Knowledge of estimating tools, preferably CANDY.
• Constructive challenge skills.
• Strong commercial and analytical skills.
• Understanding of Contract Conditions.
• Experience in Water, Wastewater, and Sludge Treatment projects preferred.
• Knowledge of P&ID’s and PFD’s.
• Familiarity with CESWI and CESMM standards.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Experience in risk management.
• High commercial awareness and technical knowledge.
• Adherence to health and safety policies.
• Proven success in supporting major contracts or teams.

• Estimating experience with rate schedules and cost curves.
• Degree or equivalent education.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
• Senior managerial or technical experience.
