Job summary

GHD is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer in Manchester to lead civil design for water and wastewater projects within the AMP8 programme. The role is based in Manchester with hybrid working (3 days in office / 2 days at home) and offers a collaborative, technically excellent environment.

You will deliver concept through detailed design, mentor graduates, and coordinate with process, mechanical, electrical and environmental specialists to deliver resilient water infrastructure across the UK.

Qualifications

• Degree-qualified in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• Chartered Engineer status or working towards chartership.
• Experience in water and wastewater assets and UK design standards.
• Proven ability to deliver design calculations, reports and documentation.
• Experience mentoring graduates and junior engineers.

Responsibilities

• Deliver civil engineering design activities across water and wastewater projects.
• Prepare and review engineering calculations, technical reports, specifications and design documentation.
• Support development of concept, outline and detailed design solutions.
• Undertake hydraulic and civil infrastructure design for treatment and network assets.
• Coordinate design inputs across multidisciplinary project teams.
• Support project delivery to achieve programme, budget and quality objectives.
• Assist with construction support activities, including design reviews and queries.
• Mentor and support development of graduate and junior engineers.
• Build and maintain client and stakeholder relationships.
• Contribute to technical excellence initiatives and continuous improvement.
