Senior Civil Engineer - Nuclear Infrastructure

Job summary

WSP in the UK is seeking a Civil Engineer to join our Civil Nuclear team and contribute to life-cycle civil designs across new build, operations, maintenance, decommissioning and environmental remediation.

You will work with experts in civil, structural, geotechnical, environmental, process and energy engineering to solve complex infrastructure challenges and deliver projects that support clean energy, national security and the UK’s nuclear legacy.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Chartered Engineer (CEng MICE) or working towards professional chartership.
• Experience delivering civil engineering projects across the nuclear asset lifecycle (new build, operations, asset care and maintenance, life extension, decommissioning, waste management and environmental remediation).
• Experience in design and delivery of civil engineering solutions (site development, earthworks, drainage, highways, utilities and reinforced concrete structures).
• Knowledge of design codes and standards (British Standards, Eurocodes, nuclear-specific standards).
• Experience with feasibility studies, optioneering, concept design and detailed design activities.
• Ability to work within multidisciplinary teams and coordinate interfaces across complex projects.

Responsibilities

• Deliver and review civil engineering designs supporting projects through the nuclear asset lifecycle.
• Develop civil engineering solutions for site development, roads and access infrastructure, drainage, earthworks, utilities and reinforced concrete/steel structures.
• Take responsibility for defined civil engineering work packages and outputs.
• Undertake feasibility studies, optioneering, site assessments and concept design activities.
• Coordinate designs with other disciplines (structural, geotechnical, mechanical, electrical and process).
• Prepare and review calculations, specifications, technical reports, risk assessments and health and safety documentation.
• Support design coordination, programme management, resource planning and delivery within budgets and timescales.
• Apply standards and quality requirements in regulated environments.
• Engage with clients and stakeholders to understand requirements and resolve challenges.
• Mentor graduates and junior engineers; contribute to knowledge sharing and development of WSP's Civil Nuclear capability.
