Main purpose of the role

As a Senior Development Engineer, you will develop lean but robust engineering strategies within an established land and development team. Your primary focus will be working with the land team to de-risk bids and support land acquisition due diligence through technical reporting and strategy development for drainage, cut & fill, retaining walls, foundations, and utilities. You will also assist with groundworks estimating and procurement, and provide technical input for planning applications. External engineers may be engaged to supplement detailed strategies for review and presentation, which will then be handed over to the technical team for detailed design. The role emphasizes producing accurate, value-engineered information aligned with project timelines and budgets.

Skills, knowledge & experience

We seek an experienced predevelopment Engineer who embodies our values, is passionate about the housebuilding industry, and demonstrates strong organizational, commercial, and contractual awareness. The candidate should be creative, detail-oriented, and capable of processing complex technical information. Excellent communication and negotiation skills are essential, along with proven experience in securing consent for complex technical approvals.

The ideal candidate will have prior experience in a similar role within a UK housebuilder and be proficient with engineering software. Key capabilities include:
