AtkinsRéalis is seeking Senior Civil Engineers for its Land Development team in Manchester and the north of the UK. You will lead multi-disciplinary design delivery, coordinate a skilled civil engineering group, and ensure high-quality outputs for landmark UK projects.

The role offers hybrid working with a mix of office/site presence and remote collaboration, aligning with our client-focused and safety-driven culture.

Qualifications

• A degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent; Chartered or Incorporated status or working toward chartered status.
• Proven experience coordinating civil engineering design delivery in a multidisciplinary environment.
• Ability to identify innovative design solutions and work independently with minimal guidance.
• Strong knowledge of external works such as drainage, utilities, pavements and earthworks; familiar with current design codes and CDM regulations.

Responsibilities

• Produce, check and review technical deliverables (design reports, drawings, calculations).

We are looking for several motivated and energetic Senior Civil Engineers to join our Land Development team within the Design & Advanced Technology (D&AT) Practice of AtkinsRéalis in the Manchester Office and other northern UK offices. You’ll be part of a talented, multi-disciplinary team delivering cutting edge, iconic projects to a wide variety of Land Development clients – projects like Sizewell C, Ministry of Defence Frameworks, Net Zero and Renewable Energy Projects, Homes England, Revantage UK & MADE Partnership among others. This role would suit existing experienced Senior Civil Engineers through to Chartered / Incorporated Engineers looking to step into a Senior Civil Engineer position. As a key member of our growing team, you’ll play a vital role in delivering transformational programmes for critical UK infrastructure, with opportunities to work on landmark engineering projects both domestically and internationally. Your role

Technical Responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage a team of civil engineers for delivery of technical design work on complex multi-disciplinary projects following relevant national and project specific design codes and standards, and to high-quality levels in areas such as utilities, drainage, paved and unpaved surfaces, access and accessibility, earthworks and construction logistics.
• Responsible for producing, checking and reviewing technical deliverables such as design reports, specifications, drawings, calculations etc.
• Provide technical input into project design deliverables for external works aspects of complex multi-disciplinary projects and work with the project management team to successfully manage time and budgets to key project milestones and programmes.
• Collaborate with client, operational, project, or service activities within your immediate team and other related AtkinsRéalis teams.
• Provide mentorship and help to develop the capabilities and skills of other less experienced colleagues.
• Work independently with minimal technical guidance whilst drawing on the technical network within AtkinsRéalis for more challenging technical problems.
• Exercise personal judgement to solve technical problems where appropriate and provide guidance to more junior team members.
• Provide technical support for bid proposals.
• Ensure compliance with CDM Regulations, Safety Legislation and AtkinsRéalis Company Safety Procedures.
• Work closely with multi-disciplinary teams in the UK and other teams based overseas to deliver integrated design solutions.
• Adhere to quality assurance standards and procedures for deliverables, including check and review of your own work as well as other’s work.

About you

• A degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent Chartered or Incorporated Civil Engineer, or actively in the final stages of working towards chartered professional accreditation.
• Proven experience in coordinating or managing a civil engineering design delivery team for a design consultancy included within a multi-disciplinary environment.
• Takes a broad perspective to identify innovative solutions to design problems.
• Can demonstrate strong technical knowledge and practical experience in external works such as drainage, utilities, pavements, and earthworks.
• Practical knowledge of current design codes and standards as well as industry best practices, including CDM regulations.
• Ability to work independently with minimal technical guidance at Senior Civil Engineer level.
• Preferably proficient in applicable analytical software and related tools such as Causeway Flow, InfoDrainage and Civil3D.
• Experience in the Energy or Defence markets is beneficial but not required.
• Produces safe designs and promotes the safety and welfare of others.
• Demonstrates strong communication and technical briefing skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts clearly and effectively within diverse multi-disciplinary teams.
• A proactive and highly motivated mindset with a collaborative approach ensuring successful teamwork to enable excellent client outcomes on all projects.

Full Driving License is desirable.
