Job summary

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to join the Land Development team in the D&AT Practice across Manchester, Leeds, and other northern offices. You will deliver cutting-edge civil design for high-profile UK infrastructure projects including energy and defence sectors, working within a multidisciplinary team.

Ideal candidates will be Chartered/Incorporated and lead design delivery, coordinating utilities, drainage and earthworks while mentoring colleagues and ensuring CDM compliance.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
• Chartered or Incorporated Civil Engineer, or nearing chartership.
• Experience leading a civil engineering design delivery team.
• Ability to identify innovative design solutions.
• Strong knowledge of drainage, utilities, pavements and earthworks.
• Familiarity with CDM regulations and design codes.
• Proficiency in analytical tools like Causeway Flow, InfoDrainage and Civil3D.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage a team of civil engineers for complex multi-disciplinary projects.
• Produce, check and review technical deliverables (design reports, drawings, calculations).
• Provide input into external works design deliverables and manage budgets and schedules.
• Collaborate with clients and AtkinsRéalis teams across UK and overseas.

• Provide technical input for bid proposals and ensure safety compliance.

TechnicalResponsibilities

As aSeniorCivil Engineer in the D&AT practice, the successful candidate(s)would have the following responsibilities:

• Coordinateandmanage a team of civil engineers for delivery of technical design work on complex multi-disciplinary projects following relevant national and project specific design codes and standards, and to high-quality levels in areas such as utilities, drainage, paved and unpaved surfaces, access and accessibility, earthworks and construction logistics.
• Responsible for producing, checkingandreviewing technical deliverables such as design reports, specifications, drawings, calculationsetc
• Provide technical input into project design deliverables for external works aspects of complex multi-disciplinary projects and work with the project management team to successfully manage time and budgets to key project milestones and programmes.
• Collaborate with client, operational, project, or service activities within your immediate team and other related AtkinsRéalis teams.
• Provide mentorship and help todevelop the capabilitiesand skillsof otherless experienced colleagues.
• Work independently with minimal technical guidancewhilst drawing on the technical network within AtkinsRéalis for more challenging technicalproblems.Exercise personal judgement to solvetechnicalproblems where appropriate and provide guidance tomorejunior team members.
• Provide technical support for bid proposals.
• Ensure compliance with CDM Regulations,SafetyLegislation and AtkinsRéalis Company Safety Procedures.
• Work closely with multi-disciplinary teamsin the UK andotherteams basedoverseas to deliver integrated design solutions.
• Adhere to quality assurance standardsand proceduresfor deliverables,including check and review of your own work as well as other’swork.

About you

The ideal candidate would be a well-rounded and versatile individual who exemplifies the following key skills and attributes:

• A degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent
• Chartered or Incorporated Civil Engineer,or actively in the final stages ofworking towardscharteredprofessional accreditation.
• Proven experience in coordinating or managing a civil engineering design delivery team for a design consultancy included within a multi-disciplinary environment.
• Takes a broad perspective to identify innovative solutions to design problems.
• Can demonstratestrongtechnicalknowledge and practical experience in external works such as drainage, utilities, pavements, and earthworks.
• Practical knowledge of current design codes and standards as well as industry best practices, including CDM regulations.
• Ability to work independently with minimal technical guidanceat Senior Civil Engineer level.
• Preferablyproficientin applicable analytical software and related tools such as Causeway Flow, InfoDrainage and Civil3D.
• Experience in the Energy or Defence markets is beneficial but not required.
• Producessafe designs andpromotes thesafetyand welfareof others.
• Demonstrates strong communicationandtechnicalbriefingskills, with the ability to convey technical concepts clearly and effectively within diverse multi-disciplinary teams.
• A proactiveandhighly motivated mindset with a collaborative approachensuring successfulteamworkto enableexcellent clientoutcomeson allprojects.
• Full Driving Licenseis desirable
