Job summary

Brandon James is partnering with a well-established multidisciplinary engineering consultancy in Hemel Hempstead to appoint a Senior Civil Engineer who will lead the design and delivery of highways, drainage and external works for a mix of residential, commercial and mixed-use developments.

You will join a friendly, collaborative team, mentor junior engineers, manage programmes and budgets, and liaise with clients and authorities.

Qualifications

• Degree or HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• Strong consultancy experience in development infrastructure.
• Experience designing highways, drainage and external works.
• Knowledge of UK design standards and planning requirements.
• Proficient with Civil 3D, AutoCAD, MicroDrainage or InfoDrainage.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and delivery of highways, drainage and external works packages.
• Prepare detailed designs, calculations, reports and specifications.
• Develop drainage strategies, levels designs and infrastructure layouts.
• Coordinate with clients, authorities, and project teams.
• Manage programmes, budgets and technical deliverables.

The Opportunity

A well-established multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to join its growing Hemel Hempstead office. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior Civil Engineer to take a leading role in the design and delivery of a varied range of residential, commercial and mixed-use development projects.

The successful Senior Civil Engineer will join a friendly and collaborative civil engineering team, working closely with clients, architects, contractors and other technical disciplines. The role offers strong career progression, exposure to challenging projects and the opportunity to support and mentor junior engineers.

The Role

• Leading the design and delivery of highways, drainage and external works packages.
• Preparing detailed designs, calculations, reports and technical specifications.
• Producing drainage strategies, levels designs and infrastructure layouts.
• Working with Section 38, Section 104, Section 106 and Section 278 agreements.
• Liaising with clients, local authorities, statutory bodies and project teams.
• Managing project programmes, budgets and technical deliverables.
• Reviewing work completed by junior engineers and technicians.
• Supporting fee proposals, tender submissions and client development.

About You

• A degree or HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Strong consultancy experience within development infrastructure.
• Experience designing highways, drainage and external works.
• Knowledge of UK design standards, SuDS guidance and planning requirements.
• Experience using relevant software such as Civil 3D, AutoCAD, MicroDrainage or InfoDrainage.
• Strong written, technical and client-facing communication skills.
• Experience managing projects and mentoring junior team members.
• Membership of ICE, with Incorporated or Chartered Engineer status, or progress towards IEng or CEng, desirable.
