Job summary

NUVIA UK is hiring an experienced Civil Engineer in Glasgow to support technical capability on major programmes in the nuclear, defence and energy sectors. The role is hybrid with site visits and offers a salary up to £55,000 depending on experience.

Responsibilities include designing infrastructure packages, assessing reliability constraints, and maintaining safety-focused procedures while delivering projects within safety-critical frameworks.

Qualifications

• Experience in design assessment of reinforced concrete and steelwork structures to withstand dynamic loads (earthquake, blast, wind, snow).
• Experience with reinforced concrete/steel marine structures and jetties.
• Ability to justify civil/structural design modifications in high-hazard environments.
• Apply theory and practice to design, develop, manufacture, construct, operate and maintain engineering processes in nuclear/high risk settings.
• Combine general and specialist engineering knowledge to apply existing and emerging technology.

• Technical excellence in specification, production and assessment of design packages for infrastructure.
• Specify reliability & operational constraints for infrastructure.

We are looking for an experienced Civil Engineer to support the technical capability of the project. This role will be suited to engineers with experience in Civil design.

Responsibilities Include:

• Ensure outputs of safety related contracts meet the contract requirements and appropriate safety requirements by acting as an intelligent customer.

To be considered for this position

Essential:

• Experience in the design assessment of reinforced concrete and steelwork structures to withstand dynamic loads including; earthquake motions, blast, wind, rain and snow loading
• Experience working on reinforced concrete and steelwork marine structures and jetties.
• Experience of producing robust technical justification to allow for relevant civil/structural design modifications to be authorised within a high hazard industry
• Apply appropriate theoretical and practical methods to design, develop, manufacture, construct, commission, operate, maintain, decommission and re-cycle engineering processes, systems, services and products in a nuclear/high risk environment
• Use a combination of general and specialist engineering knowledge and understanding to apply existing and emerging technology
• Civil/Structural Engineering Degree

Desirable:

• Familiarity with safety case development techniques e.g. HAZID/HAZOP studies.
