Job summary

Alexander Associates seeks a Senior Civil Design Engineer for a fully remote UK role in water and wastewater infrastructure. You will lead civil design tasks, develop layouts and specifications, and ensure compliance with industry standards.

You will mentor junior engineers, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, manage design risks, and deliver cost-effective, buildable solutions across pipelines, treatment works, and site development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in civil engineering.
• Experience in water/wastewater sector or regulated environment.
• Ability to produce and review civil calculations, reports, specs and drawings.
• Strong coordination with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead civil design tasks and packages to standards, budgets and programmes.
• Develop civil designs, calculations, layouts, specs and documentation for water/wastewater projects.
• Produce cost-effective designs considering constructability, safety, and whole-life costs.
• Review outputs for quality and compliance with standards and procedures.
• Coordinate design activities with Process, Mechanical, EICA, Structural, Digital and Commissioning teams.
• Mentor junior engineers and apprentices; share knowledge within the team.
• Build strong relationships with clients, project teams and suppliers.
