Cloud Imperium is seeking a Senior Cinematic Designer to create high-quality cutscenes for Squadron 42 under the direction of the Cinematic Directors. The role involves working on high-fidelity AAA scenes with performances from A-list actors such as Mark Hamill, Gillian Anderson, Andy Serkis, Mark Strong, John Rhys-Davis, Eleanor Tomlinson, and others.

The Senior Cinematic Designer will own cinematic scenes from concept to implementation with minimal oversight, demonstrating both creative and technical expertise. Proficiency in editing, lighting, camera work, and ship/character animation is required, along with experience in industry-standard game engines like Unreal Engine or CryEngine.

Founded in 2012, Cloud Imperium Games develops cutting-edge video games. We are currently working on Star Citizen, a multiplayer online space sim, and Squadron 42, a cinematic single-player adventure set in the same universe. Join us to break boundaries and make gaming history.

Responsibilities of our Senior Cinematic Designers include:

1. Collaborating closely with Leads and Directors to ensure top quality in all cutscenes within a fast-paced environment.
2. Implementing Performance Capture data provided by Cinematic Animators and creating cutscenes using StarEngine.
3. Working with Narrative, Level Design, Art, Animation, Characters, Lighting, VFX, UI, Audio, and Production teams to meet project goals.
4. Contributing innovative ideas to all aspects of game production and development.

Qualifications and qualities we seek:

1. Proven experience in game development as a cinematic artist/designer.
2. Self-reliance, proactive work approach, and adaptability to new pipelines and tools.
3. Expertise in creating high-quality cinematic scenes, including camera angles, scene layout, blocking, composition, lighting, and actor blocking.
4. Understanding of animation, timing, staging, and storytelling techniques.
5. Ability to follow directions and provide creative solutions.
6. Leadership qualities, positivity, and team motivation skills.
