Job summary

MBDA UK is seeking a Principal Manufacturing Engineer - Continuous Improvement to lead CI across Assembly Operations, driving waste reduction and productivity improvements while preserving quality and safety.

You will lead cross-functional teams, develop metrics, and govern CI reviews with a cradle-to-grave mindset. A strong Lean/Six Sigma background and data-driven approach are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing apprenticeship (Advanced Level or L3)
• Electrical/Mechanical Engineering/Manufacturing Level 4 (HNC, diploma)
• Electrical/Mechanical Engineering/Manufacturing Level 3 (NVQ) optional if L3 achieved
• Degree in a relevant subject desired
• Strong Lean/Six Sigma and seven quality tools experience

Responsibilities

• Manage the CI program for the assigned Unit
• Remove waste from manufacturing processes
• Develop and implement business metrics and reporting
• Setup and govern CI reviews for robustness/sustainability
• Develop Continuous Improvement plans
• Support root cause analyses for external parts
• Reduce defects via structured problem solving (8D/PDCA/DMAIC)
• Implement process controls and capability
• Establish standard work foundations for processes
• Lead improvement activities across the facility
• Provide Lean toolset and change-management expertise
