Join our expanding Lucy Project team delivering high-quality, low-intensity psychological therapies through video-based CBT to children and young people (CYP) experiencing low to moderate emotional and mental health difficulties linked to physical health.

Role Highlights:

  • Provide evidence-based, low-intensity CBT remotely to support CYP across multiple hospital trusts (Sheffield, Alder Hey, Newcastle, Airedale, Jersey)
  • Part of a 1.4 WTE, 2-year fixed-term contract, split across multiple practitioners
  • Flexible working location anywhere in the UK
  • Collaborate within a large multidisciplinary paediatric psychology service (30+ staff)
  • Support service growth, contribute to research, conference presentations, and publications
  • Engage with CYP and families to improve access to community-based mental health support

Who We're Looking For:

  • Postgraduate qualification as a Children's Wellbeing Practitioner (CWP).
  • Registered with BABCP or BPS

Reporting to the Principal Clinical Psychologist, your responsibilities will include:

  • Deliver psychological interventions, including CBT and self-help techniques.
  • Provide support to families to ensure participation in treatment and involvement in the therapeutic process.
  • Collaborate with community and external services to ensure holistic support for CYP and their families.
  • Supervise and provide training to junior team members, promoting a positive and collaborative team environment.
  • Work with senior clinical and managerial teams to contribute to the development and expansion of early intervention services.
Main duties of the job

Experience
  • Extensive experience working with young people facing common mental health problems.
  • Proven ability to develop and deliver evidenced-based IAPT low intensity interventions, including group psycho-education and guided self-help.
  • Experience working in multiprofessional or multi-agency teams, demonstrating effective collaboration across different services to provide holistic support
  • Experience supervising Trainee Children’s Wellbeing Practitioners and working with universities to support trainees.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Ability to assess patients’ emotional wellbeing and mental health needs and deliver evidence-based psychological interventions.
  • Understanding of the scope and limitations of LI CBT, with the ability to support patients in accessing alternative treatments when appropriate
  • Awareness of the systemic barriers to accessing mental health services, with a commitment to mitigating these barriers where possible
  • Ability to adapt communication style to suit both clinical and non-clinical situations, and to meet patients’ individual needs
  • Understanding of models of supervision to effectively develop skills and techniques within a CWP supervisory role
  • Familiarity with outcome measures and how they can be used to guide service improvement and enhance patient care
  • Knowledge of safeguarding vulnerable adults and child protection legislation.
  • Knowledge of Data Protection Act and the importance of maintaining confidentiality in all aspects of patient care.
  • Ability to use various evaluation and monitoring methods.
  • Evidence of ability to utilise user feedback for service development and continuous improvement
Qualifications and Training
  • Postgraduate qualification as a Children’s Wellbeing Practitioner (CWP)
  • Registration with BABCP or BPS as a Children’s Wellbeing Practitioner.
  • Completion of the CWP Supervisors (PGCERT) training course, or equivalent experience that meets the eligibility requirements to apply.
