Job summary

Walsall Council is seeking an experienced Senior Social Worker to join its Duty & Short Term Help Team. You will quickly assess, investigate safeguarding concerns, and manage complex cases to safeguard children and families in a fast-paced frontline setting.

You will lead assessments, deliver interventions, and collaborate with families and partner agencies, ensuring timely, high-quality social work practice in line with standards.

Qualifications

• Qualified social worker with registered status and CPD evidence.
• Experience in safeguarding investigations and child protection.
• Ability to manage complex caseloads and meet statutory timescales.
• Knowledge of Children's legislation and social work practice.

Responsibilities

• Undertake child protection investigations, safeguarding enquiries and risk assessments.
• Assess needs of children, young people and families in complex circumstances.
• Develop, implement and review Child Protection, Child in Need and support plans.
• Prepare high-quality assessments and court-related documentation.
• Attend strategy meetings and act as lead professional when required.
• Work directly with children to ensure their voices influence decisions.
• Maintain timely case recordings in line with policies and statutory requirements.
